This event called life is fascinating and terrifying to me. That we can know and discover so much about what we are, might have been, and may become - yet not know for certain how knowing things works motivates me to make what I make. I have made things for as long as I can remember feeling that there was an "I" doing it. That "I" has made things out of whatever it could find using techniques derived from handicraft traditions from around the world, and still does. I have always thought of myself as part craftsman, part artist, but mostly as 66% water with a smattering of trace elements. The craftsman I has developed Parkinson's disease, diagnosed in 2022. The artist I has utilised the condition to give the work a pleasant organic, jittery quality, as the craftsman I is frustrated in the effort to achieve any level of craftsmanship. I find this counterbalanced situation to be a nervous sort of collaboration- not as a productive venture between two equal partners, but more as a traitorous cooperation with an enemy. I hope you enjoy looking at the walls of my cave.
